Heat Seeker by Tical

5.17.2026—Dateline Farm

Partaking in some Heat Seeker flower from Tical. The cross is Dosidos x Zkittlez.

I’m sitting outside on the stoop of this old farmhouse in the middle of Missouri. It’s just past sunset, the light is going. Contrails are still visible despite being far away. Ephemeral, catching the last of the light. It doesn’t feel humid. It’s because there’s a breeze. It’s 74% relative humidity, 77°. The breeze keeps the humidity from setting. Does a breeze ward off dewfall? Now the breeze is calming down. I’ll have to go inside; the flies are bad. The windows are open to screens but I’ve had the front door propped open all day.

I arrived here at 9:30 this morning, stopping only for gas. I filled up my car as well as a five-gallon container using ethanol-free gasoline that ran $4.99/gallon. Subaru 2 has a bigger tank than my first. $97, yikes. Invest in what is important, choose wisely, respect what endures.

I mowed for four hours. Dry sneezy, snotty, dusty, dirty. Someone out there now shooting.

A coyote strikes up! Not far away. The coyote is just across the road, much closer than the gunshots. One hundred and fifty yards, but with many trees in between. A few stars now. The breeze returns. The little plastic windmills spin. I’ve got Marlins @ Padres on radio/cell, Padres lead 7-3. Frogs sound off from the direction of the creek. It’s a pleasant evening except for a gnat trying to drill into my ear.

That Heat Seeker was some nice bud. Pretty grind. Very aromatic as I was grinding it up. Nice bag. I have two or three more Heat Seeker joints rolled up, the rest of the bag is gone.

Chuck-will’s-widow! Singing from across the field. [20:53]

Nice bag of Heat Seeker nugs from Tical, the only offering from them I’ve had

I came inside for the night; had to close the door. Opened a beer. I jones for something stronger. But if I had it, I’d already have drunk it, and I’d be asleep right now, not awake like I am, writing. This is part of the magic of this place—Farm—if you bring less hard stuff than you know you’re going to want, a different kind of a night.

The Heat Seeker is good fuel. I reread and made a few copy edits on an entry I also penned from here, Melonade, nearly a year ago. Melonade was a strong pen-to-paper strain. There’s still Melonade to be found out there, on the various menus. Illinois.

I chose to try Heat Seeker because of the Dosidos in the lineage. I found Dosidos—or Do-Si-Dos—to be a good pen-to-paper strain. I still don’t know what to make of Zkittlez, common and prominent as it is, a parent in so many lineages. I have largely considered it a blackout strain. But after smoking Trop Z in Arizona, which hails from Zkittlez among other ancestors, I have been rethinking the Zkittlez. Recently I picked up an eighth of Rythm’s Durban Z. It’s hard to avoid Zkittlez. All the Z strains. I’ve got to try what is on offer; not get too certain about certain parents.

The baseball game continues. Crickets whir. Padres lead 8-3. This is the final game going. [21:03]

[23:03] The Heat Seeker has finally run its course. I smoked around 20:00. So I got three hours from it?

Eastern Miller County, MO. Some folks call it Traderight.

5.7.2026—An Earlier Heat Seeker Smoke Session

[14:08] Smoked a bowl of Heat Seeker ten minutes ago. Tasted fine: creamy and doughy from the glass. There’s some lift; a buzz building. I’ll see if I can get some work done.

[16:23] …Two-plus hours. I’m happy with it. I did some desk work, talked to my broker, it’s been a good day. I read. Then I read some more. The buzz has carried without downing me or getting bite-y. It’s a beautiful day—that helps. But the Heat Seeker is workable, flexible, helpful. There were one or two other Tical offerings on the menu when I bought this Heat Seeker. The nugs looked the part. I would try this again; I’d try anything from Tical. I don’t see that brand around at the moment, however. It was a pop-up brand, for SW Illinois, anyway.
