Animal Face by Rythm

Jar Opening & Weigh-In

The Animal Face is fresh and sticky. It’s got a sweet pine/citrus/mint aroma. This is not the first eighth of Animal Face I have bought. It might be the third. I’ve never written much on or about the Animal Face. Probably because I am riding the effects and don’t want to be bothered about having to write something down. I’m trying to make a concerted effort to get a post from this jar. The flower weighed out to 3.59 grams.

First Smoke

Yeah, the Animal Face is strong. It feels like a Gelato/Burma high. That riptide you get caught in, taking you out. You can’t fight it, you just gotta let it take you. Wandering mind. Aphrodisiac. Heavy behind the eyes.

It’s also late in the evening, and this is not my first smoke of the day. The first was a .3g joint of Night Owl Haze, which stood up: a pleasant, unhurried, contented buzz. The Animal Face is racier, trippier.

A solid 3.59 grams of Rythm’s by-now classic Animal Face flower.

Subsequent Smokes: Fragments

Animal Face making me emotional. But it feels good. It was the Rx. This is really happening. Is this really happening? The strawberries are soft against my rounding, offset jaw. I listen to the same album again again.

There are no imperfect circles. Nothing burns in reverse. A late (for me) chillum of Animal Face and I’m energized anew. Tired but space-flirty. 10:46. It’s 10:46. I took a nap earlier. That’s the only reason I’m still awake. That phase in my life when I worried about the weather.

It has happened, it just hasn’t happened yet. Are you playing mind games? No, that was a word game. Is there a difference? Half a samara falls into her empty cup of wine. A great crowd emerging under your blue feather.

The quick ground of every morning.

Animal Face might be my jam. I am silly high, alone, and that is the last of my jar. Ripped through it, wasted some of it too drunk or already high on something else. The sativa-esque head rush right away is intense, unparalleled. Then you want to sit down for the rest of the evening. Maybe drink a little wine and at some point have something to eat.

That dog was being regional, that cat was glamping. The day was being regional, the clouds were sampling.

Shoes that actually look like feet.

Lineage and Classification

Animal Face is Face Off OG x Animal Mints

Animal Face is considered indica-leaning. At least, Rythm labels it indica-leaning but I have seen it described as a sativa elsewhere, e.g. on the Seedfinder site, where Cap Junky, the breeder, calls Animal Face “mostly sativa,” but I digress, link here.

My appreciation for Animal Face has led me to take note of both its parent strains. Face Off OG is a particular cut or phenotype of OG Kush. I don’t ever see Face Off OG offered “by itself”, but I do see the word “Face” show up in other strain names e.g. Space Face, and it is usually because Face Off OG is one of the parents.

I have seen and bought straight-up Animal Mints. First from Seed & Strain in Illinois. I remember smoking some of it on a balcony in San Diego. Very pleasant high, couldn’t beat the setting. And I see Animal Mints under slightly different nomenclature, e.g. Animal Mint Cake. Heck, I have some Animal Mint Cake in my inventory, from Grassroots. My experiences with Grassroots have been so hit-and-miss that I haven’t been excited to crack the jar.

But Animal Mints does get you some exposure to the legendary strain known as The White. Animal Mints has SinMint Cookies as a parent, and there is White in SinMint Cookies. I like to think it’s this influence that prevails when I am enjoying Animal Mints or Animal Face but who knows.
