White 99 by C4

Head rush. It’s the Cindy in here. The strain Cinderella 99 being one of the parents of White 99 (link for lineage), with the mysterious and legendary strain simply known as The White as the other parent. Cindy 99 has Jack Herer in it. When it hits, it hits.

The high is sharp, incisive, and it has come on quick. I can’t even tell I am wearing headphones. I have to touch my hand to my ear to make certain. And these are not ear-bud style headphones they are the over-the-ear, big-as-earmuff style headphones, old school.

I should back up one moment and say that what I am smoking on today is the White 99 strain as grown by C4 aka Carroll County Cannabis Co. I have had White 99 before, from Cloud Cover. These are Missouri brands. I bought the C4 White 99 at the Swade dispensary on Delmar Boulevard.

I’ve had deli-style offerings from C4 before. I’ve had their Blue Dream and something else, maybe First Class Funk. Or Member Berry. It had been a while since I had bought anything from them and I wanted to give them a try again.

I bought this White 99 a couple of months back. I had some complaints about the purchase. First, it had been sitting on the shelf for six months by the time I bought it. Can I prove this? Of course not. I am basing my claim on the Use By date on the package, which is 04.22.2025. My sense is that those dates are determined by adding a year to the package date. Why do Missouri growers/purveyors not place a clear packaging date on their containers? Because it’s not mandatory? Maybe it’s not mandatory but maybe it is good business. If I am buying in Illinois or in Arizona, I know when the weed went into the jar. I like that.

Second beef. These C4 plastic pop-top containers carry no seal. None. Was it really White 99 in this plastic container I bought? Who knows. It could have been anything. It could have been some popcorn nugs someone working at the dispensary put into the container three months ago whilst taking the White 99 for themselves. Do I think this happened? Probably not, but why allow the uncertainty to simmer? C4, please listen to me. I sent you a message through your website. A polite, cogent inquiry. I gave you my contact info; you failed to respond. That’s a bad look by y’all. Please seal your containers. Add some sort of tamper-proof seal. At least put a sticker from the top down the side such that if someone pops the top, the sticker rips or must be cut through first. It can’t be that expensive or difficult. If I am missing something here, please let me know.

So I was starting off on the wrong foot with this White 99. I had a couple puffs on it last November but it didn’t seem to do much so I set it to the side. The buds looked good, and the contents of the container did weigh out to 3.6 grams, so it wasn’t a short. But the effects did not seem to be there so I set it to the side. I added it to my big envelope of discards.

Yesterday, I decided to get into my discards and roll up some joints from them. I’d give them all at least one more shot. If they didn’t show out, I’d bin them once and for all.

Decent grind on the C4 White 99. Not too seed-shell-y. Good color. Even grind.
Effects (written as the session unfolded)

I run a weed hedge fund. Not really, but that’s how high I am right now on the White 99. Will $10,000 buy a trial run of actually sealing these containers? Try a kickstarter, or similar, if I can give anonymously. Or maybe I am just really high on that White 99. Interesting.

I loved the White 99 from Cloud Cover. I’d buy it again. I didn’t think I’d buy any more C4 with their lousy packaging but damn this bud is working on me.

I bought some Cindy 99 in New Mexico. It was dry as a bone. I’ve never had “straight up” The White. I don’t think it exists anymore. But I look for it as an ancestor in strains. Note that The White is not in nor does it have anything do with White Widow. You’ll find The White in WiFi OG, however. And it’s in the lineage, albeit further up, in any strain that has Blue Power as an ancestor, e.g. Apples and Bananas. SinMint Cookies.

This high takes me back to the last part of the 20th century. Those days when I first started smoking marijuana. This is the type of high I got in 1999, 2000, 2001. Before the towers fell.

But that was a long time ago. I’m high and it’s cold and it’s winter. The sun went away but the birds are still around. Cardinals sparrows chickadees doves one bluebird one hairy woodpecker downy one flicker nuthatches blue jays cardinals and juncos. The sparrows are white-throated and many. I heard one singing but they are not too vocal this time of year. Wait until spring.

Mixed buds, 3.60 grams, White 99 from C4.
In Conclusion

I am surprisingly stoned on the White 99. Maybe it’s still early enough in the evening to feel good. The light from the old fallen snow. A successful salvage effort from the discard pile! Considering I live in Missouri, I am glad when a Missouri-grown strain makes me feel this good. Vibe’s Chem Reserve got me feeling like this. Proper’s Romulan.

White 99 is probably sativa-leaning. It’s marketed as sativa. And you get that early racy head-rush high. You are not smoking White 99 for the aroma or the taste, but the effects will stick around and the high will take you down some rabbit holes. It’s an energizing high for me. I have been social on White 99 (the one from Cloud Cover). I’ve also gotten existential on White 99 such that I am just a little too heady and stoned to be comfortable or useful in a social situation. It’s a great smoke if you want to put pen to paper and see what kind of crazy places a human mind can go. Despite my dislike of their containers, this probably will lead me to pick up another container from C4. But six-month old weed in a completely unsealed container should not cost $40 an eighth.
